Product Specialist/Brand Manager Woodstock, GA
I. Job Summary The Product Specialist/Brand Manager is teamed with and works under the supervision of a Product Manager. The Product Specialist determines market needs, and then promotes the development and introduction of both new and improved products within an assigned product line. This includes managing both the technical and commercial aspects including product specifications, pricing, and distribution strategies. The Product Specialist/Brand manager will also support the field sales and manufacturing functions with training, product demonstrations, and education for customers on product attributes and capabilities. The Product Specialist/Brand Manager will be responsible for maintaining high levels of brand awareness and integrity. This position is dynamic and will evolve as new products and product lines are introduced.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Assists Product Manager with detailed product related communications and documentation.
Monitors, generates, and assembles detailed product related cost, revenue, and profit related information.
Advises Product Manager and takes immediate corrective action when actual results fall behind forecast results.
Under the direction of the Product Manager, develops product vision, strategy and roadmap
Assists in developing assigned product short and long term strategies
Works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales and marketing groups in the new product development cycle
Evaluates competition for assigned product line
Manages Customer Service function for assigned product lines
Implements the core positioning and messaging for the product line
Performs appropriate research to develop product pricing, and revenue and profit goals
Works collaboratively with Product Management to develop and implement product go-to-market plan
Briefs and trains the sales force
Coordinates new product introduction plans and manages internal efforts to support product launches
Works collaboratively with engineering groups on drawing and special pricing requests
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervisory responsibilities consistent with assigned product responsibility and accountability as defined above.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field of study required.
Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Product Specialist/Brand Manager, or Product Marketing Specialist (or a documented combination of education and experience consistent with the position requirements)
Demonstrated success in defining and launching successful products and maintaining brand awareness and integrity
Five (5) plus years of experience in manufacturing or related industries
B. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Technical background, with experience in LEAN, Six Sigma manufacturing
Deep knowledge of products
