Director of Engineering Woodstock, GA
I. Job Summary Responsible for the effective enterprise level management of engineering organization.
II.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be
assigned.
Management and development of the engineering function in a manner consistent with the strategic goals and objectives of Company's corporate leadership.
Development and implementation of common strategies and best practices across the enterprise engineering function (multiple plants/multiple sites).
Develop, implement, and manage the continuous improvement LEAN Six Sigma methodology across the enterprise engineering function.
Analyze new technologies and perform essential competitive analysis.
Responsible for the technical vision of the company. Develop plans for the implementation of new technical projects or products.
Responsible for assessing and leveraging engineering department talent.
Creation of engineering department budgets and the allocation of engineering resources.
Determines/approves product release schedules and project deadlines.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for leading all engineering department personnel at all locations..
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Masters preferred
Manufacturing/technical/engineering or program management experience (10 years)
Engineering Management (5 years)
Design for Six Sigma or Robust Design Capability (Lean Manufacturing (TPS) training and certification preferred)
Working knowledge of all engineering disciplines
B. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Ability to influence and instruct employees in change
Overall business acumen of product development, engineering, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, finance, HR, sales/marketing, and Operations
Excellent written and oral communication skills (plant and senior management staff)
Highly motivated, strong engineering leader.
Relationship building. Must be highly collaborative.

Travel approximate 50%
Employee must periodically stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift, climb or balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Normal setting is approximately 50% office and 50% plant.
